Now that the weather is starting to settle down, it is a perfect time to take a walk in the woods and look for wildflowers. One of the first wildflowers that blooms in the spring is Bloodroot. It is found in most woodlots and tolerates a wide variety of growing conditions. If a stem is pulled and squeezed, a reddish fluid will appear. This is fun for the kids to see, but make sure they don't put it in their mouth as parts of the plants are poisonous. Spring is finally here!
